Dollmaking can help you to heal at a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level.  The essential process of healing yourself with artmaking is one involving creating  change so that you can become more conscious and restore your connection to   your intuition and your soul.  When you are physically ill, in pain, dealing with emotional  issues, or challenged by a life changing event, you can start to heal yourself with art by opening up to your inner voices, listening to them, and allowing their messages  to emerge.

In the one year long online class, you will make four medicine dolls: a guardian,  a scapegoat, a talisman and an inner healer.  In a weekend retreat setting you will make 2 dolls: a scapegoat and talisman. Class involves keeping a journal  as well as making the dolls.  This work will take you through a creative process toward a goal of healing an aspect of yourself and/or your life. Your intention drives the process and keeps you focused. Your journal becomes the record keeper and provides a place for you to dialog with your creations.

Medicine Dolls is a six-step creative process:
1. Set an intention to keep you focused and guide the process.
2. Make an image of protection.
3. Access an image of the pain/stress/wound/ problem that is blocking you from getting what
you want.
4. Release the image through making the art.
5. Transform the painful image into a new image that represents the healing goal - a less stressful, more positive way to respond to whatever is causes  you pain.
6. Make an image that focuses on lessons learned and stands as a symbol of the inner guidance.

The Creative Journey Game
“The Creative Journey Game© is an adventure in self discovery and creative problem solving.  This process is a way of identify your journey, of seeing the ongoing thread, theme or pattern to life’s trek. It permits you to see the linkage between events and people in a way that provides of meaning about self and others. This contributes to personal well-being and a greater sense of direction and control in life. As you design the game board and game pieces you clarify moments from the past and outline the future.  When you tell a story of your game you link to the past and are able to see the patterns of your response to life’s challenges and opportunities. Sharing the story of it with others can help you understand the context of your life journey.”
Available as Weekend Retreat and Online Class

Sunday 10:00- noon    1:00-3:00 pm
Sharing of boards and characters at 2:00 pm.

The Creative Journey Game© is a creative, playful process of self-discovery and insight.  You design your game board and personal game pieces as you play the game.  This creative game process, based on
“The Hero's Journey” can help open doors to self knowledge and understanding, see patterns and move you through your life adventure of discovery and awareness.

During this November weekend retreat we will create a collaged Creative Journey Game board and three-dimensional characters to use to visualize an intention for 2010.
The idea behind this is that when you surround yourself with images of who you want to become, what you want to happen, where you want to live or vacation, your life changes to match those images and desires. They add clarity to your desires, and feeling to your visions.
